Wrong-Way Driver on I-25 Near Pueblo Leads to Trooper-Involved Crash, DUI Arrest

Wrong Way Driver
Left lane of I-25 remains closed just north of Pueblo
(El Paso County, CO) - At approximately 3:45 am, Colorado State Troopers responded to a wrong-way driver traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on Interstate 25 near mile marker 113, approximately 11 miles north of Pueblo. The wrong-way vehicle, a 2021 Honda sedan, turned around at mile marker 112 and was heading northbound in the northbound lanes when troopers caught up with the vehicle near mile marker 117. A trooper attempted to stop the driver at this location, but the driver did not initially pull over.
Troopers pulled the driver of the 2021 Honda over at mile marker 123, near the Pikes Peak Racetrack, and a secondary Trooper attempted to position his patrol car in front of the Honda. While attempting to block the driver in, this trooper was struck by a 2001 Hummer in the left lane of I-25. The driver of the Hummer was transported to the nearest hospital with an unknown extent of injuries. The trooper was also injured and was transported to the hospital.
The Honda fled the traffic stop and kept traveling northbound on I-25 and was stopped by the Fountain Police Department after a short pursuit at mile marker 132. Colorado State Troopers took over this incident.
The driver of the Honda was identified as Jennifer Elaine Bliss from Denver, Colorado. The driver did not sustain injuries and was arrested for DUI. She will be facing charges for DUI, failing to yield and driving the wrong way.
The crash involving the Hummer and the Colorado State Patrol vehicle will be investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department, and all calls related to this should be forwarded to them.
Arrests and charges are merely accusations until and unless a suspect is convicted of a crime. All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
