Multiple Crashes on I-70

Drivers are encouraged to delay travel

(GEORGETOWN, CO) - On February 13, 2026, at approximately 5:17 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a multi-vehicle, multi-crash scene on eastbound I-70 at milepost 222. There were at least two separate crashes.

The first crash involved at least 9 vehicles. The second crash involved at least 15 vehicles.

From the first crash, one passenger was transported to an area hospital by ground ambulance. It is unknown the extent of injuries at this time. Two other parties complained of injury but refused to be transported to the hospital. There were no reports of injuries from the second crash.

Eastbound I-70 was closed for approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes between milepost 205 (US 6; CO 9) and milepost 226 (Silver Plume). Due to winter weather conditions, drivers are urged to delay traveling until conditions improve. If travel is necessary use caution and reduce speed.
