Frances Howard Ochoa, a radiant spirit known for her infectious joy and unwavering kindness, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, in Pueblo. Born on June 12, 1942, in Oakland, California, to Charles Howard and Ruth Mary Barney, Frances’s life was a testament to warmth and openness, qualities that endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Growing up in Walnut Creek, California, Frances was deeply rooted in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she spent the majority of her life. Her presence was marked by a unique, happy-go-lucky nature — she truly was one of the most cheerful and amicable souls one would ever meet. Frances never met a stranger she did not like, always greeting everyone with a welcoming smile and a heartfelt warmth that instantly put others at ease.

In her later years, Frances moved to Rocky Ford, where she shared many cherished moments with her late husband, Herman Ochoa. Her life was rich with connections and the love she fostered among family and friends alike.

Frances is survived by her devoted son, Jack Van Stone, and her brother, Barney Howard, as well as many loving relatives in the San Francisco Bay Area. She also leaves behind numerous friends in Rocky Ford who will fondly remember her generous spirit and embracing nature.

Her legacy is one of joy, kindness, and an extraordinary ability to brighten the lives of those around her. Frances Howard Ochoa will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a beacon of happiness and love in the hearts of all who knew her.
