C470 was closed for approximately two hours for the preliminary investigation

(Jefferson County, Colorado) – Today at about 9:19 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to C470 westbound, near the Ken Caryl exit, for a single vehicle crash. The crash initially came in as an injury crash, where all occupants, 3 in total, were transported to a local hospital. Later, it was confirmed that the driver, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The vehicle, a red Toyota SUV, was traveling westbound on C470 near mile marker 10, on the bridge over Ken Caryl Avenue. The Toyota drifted left, went off the road, into the median, and struck a guardrail. The Toyota continued through the median, finally coming to rest without blocking any lane of travel.

The driver, a 31-year-old male, was transported with life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital. A 30-year-old female and a 3-year-old toddler were also transported to a nearby hospital. The 30-year-old female suffered serious injuries, and the toddler suffered minor injuries.
