Obituary
Ronald Paul Gerboth, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Dodge City, Kansas, in 1943, Ron grew up in Wheatridge, Colorado, before eventually settling in Rocky Ford. In 1963, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Herndon, in La Junta, Colorado. Their 63 year marriage was defined by deep devotion. Early in their life together, Ron paused his own college education to provide dedicated care for Kathleen following a grave injury, a testament to his character and commitment.
He eventually returned to his studies, graduating with a teaching degree from the University of Northern Colorado and later earning a Master's of Education from Adams State University. Ron dedicated thirty years to the R2 School District in Rocky Ford as a respected teacher and coach. Following his retirement in 1999, he and Kathleen moved to Denver to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Ron had a lifelong passion for baseball, whether he was playing, coaching, or simply enjoying a game from the stands. He cherished the long summer vacations spent traveling across the country with his wife and sons, creating a lifetime of memories on the road.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his three sons, Robert (Melissa), Christopher (Sarah), and Jason (Gina); and his six grandchildren, Daryl Schreiber (Jarret), Jane Gerboth, Sophia Gerboth, Quinn Gerboth, Liam Gerboth, and Rhys Gerboth. He also leaves behind a great-granddaughter, Zelda Schreiber, and his beloved sister-in-law, Judy Messick of Chico, California.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Rollin and Donna Gerboth; his brother, Mark Gerboth; his parents-in-law, Bill and Christine Herndon; and his brothers-in-law, William Herndon and William Messick.
In accordance with Ron's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will hold a private memorial service to celebrate his life and legacy.
