Pueblo Police Arrest Driver After Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on East 4th Street Bridge

Description: Pueblo Police arrested Lariah Escajeda after a pedestrian was struck and killed May 9, 2026, on the East 4th Street Bridge. Escajeda faces charges including vehicular homicide DUI, leaving the scene of an accident with death, DUI and careless driving.

On May 9th, 2026, at approximately 1:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 400 block of East 4th Street (4th Street Bridge). Upon arrival, officers located the victim, who was pronounced deceased on scene. The suspect vehicle was identified as a Toyota Camry which had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

Pueblo Police Officers located the suspect vehicle, and the driver was identified as Lariah Escajeda. Escajeda was arrested for Vehicular Homicide (DUI), Driving Under the Influence-alcohol or drugs, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Death, and Careless Driving.

The victim’s identity was released by the Pueblo County Coroner on May 11, 2026.

Fatal Accident

The Pueblo County Coroner has positively identified the decedent from the fatal accident near the 400 block of 4th Street on May 9, 2026, as 40-year-old female Krystin Michelle Schletter.

Next of kin has been notified.

This case remains under active investigation. No further information is being released currently.
