Frisco Man Killed in Fatal Crash on Westbound I-70 Near Milepost 203

I-70 Fatal Crash Near Frisco

The interstate was reopened at 1:27 a.m.

(Summit County, COLO) – Yesterday, May 11, 2026, at approximately 9:39 p.m., Colorado State Patrol troopers responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on westbound Interstate 70 near milepost 203, west of Frisco. Troopers determined a Jeep Cherokee was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 behind a Peterbilt 379 hauling a trailer. The Cherokee failed to slow as it approached the Peterbilt, striking its front with the rear of the trailer.

The driver of the Cherokee, a 41-year-old male from Frisco, was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Peterbilt, a 42-year-old male from Thornton, suffered no injuries. The Summit County Coroner’s office will release the name of the deceased once proper next of kin notifications have been made.

This crash is being investigated by the Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit.
