Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest After Deputies Find Fentanyl

Pueblo, CO: A traffic stop early Thursday morning led to the arrest of a 33-year-old Pueblo man and the seizure of nearly 168 grams of Fentanyl and a large sum of money.

A deputy was on routine patrol at about 12:55 a.m. when he conducted a routine traffic stop in the 1800 block of La Crosse St., after seeing an SUV with no registration. While talking to the driver of the vehicle, identified as Jacob Rodriguez, another deputy saw drug paraphernalia in the vehicle in plain view. An adult passenger and a child were also in the vehicle.

Deputies initiated a probable cause search of the vehicle and found 135 grams of Fentanyl pills and another 32.5 grams of Fentanyl powder. Deputies also located more than $1,000 in cash and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Rodriguez was arrested on two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and child abuse. He was booked into the Pueblo County Jail. 

All parties considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
