Sugar City Shooting Leaves One Dead, Suspect Charged for First-Degree Murder
Sugar City, Colorado - On 05/30/2026 at about 1:25 pm, the Crowley County Sheriff's Office responded to the 500 block of Colorado Ave in Sugar City for a report of a gunshot victim.
Deputies secured the area and rendered life-saving measures to the victim, identified as 60-year-old Daniel Arellano of Sugar City.
Authorities quickly identified a suspect 28-year-old Aaron Glendenning of Sugar City, and transported him to Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center for precautionary measures.
Despite life-saving measures attempted on-scene, in the ambulance, and at the hospital, Daniel succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased. His next of kin has been notified.
Once released from the hospital, Aaron was taken into custody and is being held in the Crowley County Detention Center for first-degree murder.
This was an isolated incident resulting from a verbal dispute.
