Obituary

Patricia Lee “Patty” Cowell age 84, of LaJunta, Colorado passed away on Monday May 25, 2026

Patty was born on January 15, 1942 in Aberdeen, Maryland to Esther Lenore Hoopes and Williams Edward Davis.

She raised her family in Chesapeake City, Maryland and she worked for Avon in Newark, Delaware for more than 30 years. She worked hard and if you knew her you loved her. Patty loved crocheting, gardening, sewing and taking care of her beloved cats.

After making her home in La Junta, Colorado she was a proud member of the Lions Club, Patty believed in community, helping others, and staying involved—because sitting around doing nothing simply wasn’t her thing.

Patty was known for her sharp tongue, quick wit and her utter stubbornness- all a wrapped in a heart of gold.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Henry “Papa” Cowell, her sister Karen Eustace and her parents Esther and Thomas Alexander.

Pat is survived by her children Teri DiPerna (Kurt), Ocean City, Maryland, Kevin Blevins, Kenny Blevins, Tammy Shinneman (Danny)and Tina Blevins Pearthree ( Linda) all of Chesapeake City, Maryland and Henry Cowell III of Newark Delaware , 4 grandchildren Cameron DiPerna, Jacob Cotero, Eric Bernstine & Ethan Bernstine. She is also survived by her sister Kim Werner (Fritz) of Darlington, Maryland as well as her niece’s and nephews.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank her friends she considered children in Colorado; Angie & Troy Robbins and Debbie Salazar for all of their loving care and support
