Multi-Agency Operation in Otero County Leads to Four Arrests, 12 Detentions During Search Warrant Execution in La Junta
 
La Junta, Colorado - A multi-agency effort resulted in multiple arrests on June 10, 2026 in Otero County. 
 
The investigation began with the La Junta Police Department, with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation Pueblo Special Investigation Team assisting them.
 
This search warrant service was a joint operation involving the La Junta Police Department, the Otero County Sheriff's Office, the Bent County Sheriff's Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the Colorado State Patrol.
 
Two search warrants were served, and CBI assisted La Junta Police in serving them and utilized the CSP SOAR team, the CSP version of a SWAT team, to supplement the CBI SRT/Special Response Team due to the number of people involved.
 
Residents in the area of the 300 Block of W. 4th St. and Belleview Ave. were issued shelter in place orders during the operation and the Otero County Courthouse was placed on lockdown status.
 
The Otero County Sheriff’s Office and Bent County Sheriff's Office helped with traffic control points and prisoner transport.
 
Twelve people were detained as part of the investigation. Four of the 12 were arrested on outstanding warrants.
 
The other 8 were released pending the investigation's results.
 
4 suspects were arrested: 
 
Anthony Garcia/Misdemeanor-Failure to Appear, Larceny
 
Carlos Sandoval/Felony Parole Violation
 
Crystal Martinez/Misdemeanor, Failure to Appear-Pubic Order Crimes
 
Abney Tauni/Misdemeanor, Failure to Comply-Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle
 
All parties considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
