Aspen Acres Fire Holds at 28,314 Acres, 0% Contained; Evacuations Remain in Effect

UPDATE: ASPEN ACRES

As of 8:20 p.m. June 30 -- This will be the last update tonight.

Fire teams have switched to night operations and will continue to monitor the fire.
 
The fire is still reported at 28,314 acres and 0% containment. The acreage is expected to increase due to unexpected fire growth on the northwest side of the fire that occurred this evening as a result of a weather system that passed through.
 
All evacuations remain in effect. The evacuation center remains open at the Pueblo County Recreation Center, 1650 Cooper Pl. (small animals are accepted at the shelter).
 
The large animal/livestock shelter remains open at the Colorado State Fair (Enter from Gate 7 on Small Ave). Transportation from the CART team is halted for large until tomorrow (July 1).
