Lightning-Started Brush Fire Quickly Contained by Hasty/McClave Fire Crews

Description: Hasty/McClave Fire crews quickly contained a lightning-caused brush fire and remain on scene extinguishing hot spots during mop-up operations...

Hasty/McClave Fire personnel responded this evening (July 1, 2026) to a brush fire started by lightning.
Thanks to a quick response from our volunteers, the fire is under control. Crews are still on scene working through mop-up operations and extinguishing hot spots to make sure everything is fully out.
As always, we appreciate the support of our community and the dedication of our firefighters who leave their families, dinners, and evening plans behind when the tones drop.
Update:
So last night's lightning caused wildfire was tiny in comparison to others around the state that we've all seen. This one was approximately 34.5 acres in size.
Any guesses as to how much water was required to extinguish that fire??
We used around 11,000 gallons of water in a really short amount of time. While this was a fire of natural causes we each need to do all we can to get through this extremely dry season.
We are seeing our water associations struggle to keep up with demand as is. Please consider this as we go into this holiday weekend.
This coming holiday is always marked by amazing fireworks displays and a majority of us absolutely love those shows.
We would ask that you attend a fireworks display put on the professionals who are prepared to migrate that risk.
Save the personal displays for a snowy day.
