La Junta Police Capture Suspect After High-Speed Chase Across Otero and Las Animas Counties with Multi-Agency Response

La Junta Police Capture Suspect After Multi-County High-Speed Chase with Multi-Agency Assist

La Junta, CO- La Junta Police Officers attempted to stop a black sedan on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at approximately 3:25 PM. The suspect vehicle attempted to elude officers at a high rate of speed on Colorado Highway 350 traveling southbound.

La Junta officers determined that traffic was clear enough to continue the pursuit into Las Animas County where Trinidad Police Officers, Las Animas County Sheriff's Deputies and Colorado State Troopers were contacted for assistance.

The suspect vehicle was traveling towards Trinidad when officers deployed stop sticks, then was able to turn around and travel back towards La Junta northbound on Colorado Highway 350 before coming to a stop.

The driver was apprehended without injuries to officers. 

La Junta Police were assisted in aprehending the suspect by multiple agencies including the Otero County Sheriff's Office, Trinidad Police Department, Las Animas Sheriff's Department and the Colorado State Patrol.
