CBI Grand Junction to Host Open House to Collect DNA Samples, Aid Missing Person Cases

July 13, 2026 – CBI –  Grand Junction, CO –The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is hosting a Missing Person Open House on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Grand Junction CBI office at 2797 Justice Drive, Grand Junction, CO 81505.

Families who have missing loved ones are encouraged to attend this event. We ask those in attendance to bring a photograph of their missing loved one as well as any medical and dental records they have. In addition, if the family member is biologically related to the missing person, we encourage those family members to also provide a family reference sample. A family reference is simply an oral cheek swab obtained using a large Q-tip.

Ideally, we would like to collect 2 family reference samples in each missing person case.  We would prefer the mother and father if they are available and willing. If not, we would like to collect from children or siblings of the missing person.

If you have already reported your missing loved one to law enforcement but have not yet provided a family reference sample please consider attending our open house.

As a reminder this is for families who have already reported their loved ones as missing but still need to provide a family reference sample. If you have a missing loved one and have not yet reported them to local law enforcement, please do that before attending this open house.  If you have any questions or comments, please contact Audrey Simkins via email audrey.simkins@state.co.us.
