Evening Operations Update (7/14): The #GoldMountainFire remains at 36,965 acres and 12% containment, with 886 personnel assigned.

As anticipated, isolated thunderstorms developed south of the fire this afternoon. While winds from the storm reached the incident, they primarily affected smoke movement and had minimal impact on fire behavior. There was minimal precipitation that fell across the fire area. The most active fire behavior was observed near Pinnacle Ridge in Division Uniform on the north side of the fire.

Firefighters continued making steady progress across the incident. Patrol, mop-up, and chipping operations remained underway in Divisions Alpha/Bravo and Charlie/Delta. Crews continued strengthening and connecting containment lines using roads, natural features, and dozer line in Divisions Foxtrot, Hotel, Uniform, and Romeo, while improving secondary containment lines in Division Kilo. In Division Romeo, firefighters also conducted structure assessments and structure preparation while continuing to strengthen containment lines.

Heavy equipment remained active in Division Papa, improving containment in favorable terrain.

Aviation resources monitored Division Zulu throughout the day, with some aircraft supporting initial attack on a new fire near Meeker, Colorado.

Night operations will continue this evening as firefighters take advantage of anticipated cooler temperatures and improved overnight humidity.
