**Update** Fatal Crash on Highway 119 Closes the Road

The road was opened around 4:15 a.m.

(Boulder County, COLO) – The ongoing investigation of the fatal crash on Highway 119 at milepost 34 shows a Dodge Ram, pulling a trailer, was traveling eastbound on Highway 119, while a Toyota Sienna and a Hyundai Ioniq were traveling westbound on Highway 119. The Ram's brakes failed, causing it to lose control, and the trailer began rotating into the westbound lane of travel. The trailer collided its left side with the driver's side of the Sienna. The Ram continued eastbound, causing the trailer to strike its left side into the front of the Ioniq. The trailer then rolled, causing the Ram to roll and come to a stop on its driver's side. The Sienna went off the right side of the road, struck large rocks and a mailbox, and came to rest. The Ioniq was pushed into the rock embankment, where it came to a stop.

The driver of the Dodge, a 27-year-old male from Thornton, suffered no injuries and was not transported. The driver of the Sienna, a 22-year-old male from Ward, was transported to an area hospital for moderate injuries. The driver of the Ioniq, a 37-year-old female from Nederland, was pronounced deceased on scene.

This investigation is ongoing. The Boulder County Coroner's Office will identify the deceased driver once proper next-of-kin notifications have been made. The road was reopened around 4:15 a.m.
