(COLORADO) – On July 30, 2026, at about 9:25 p.m., Colorado State Patrol troopers responded to the intersection of Highway 83 and Shoup Road near Colorado Springs, Colorado, for a reported two-vehicle crash.

Once troopers arrived on scene, they observed two vehicles that were involved: a grey Subaru WRX and a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The Harley was occupied by two riders: a 27-year-old male and a 28-year-old female, both from Denver. The Subaru was occupied only by the driver, identified as a 38-year-old male, Evan R. Fields, of Fountain, Colorado.

The preliminary investigation shows that the Subaru was traveling southbound on Highway 83 and attempting to turn left onto Shoup Road. The Harley was traveling northbound on Highway 83 in the right lane. The Subaru turned into the Harley and collided its front with the left side of the Harley, ejecting both riders from the Harley.

The 28-year-old female, who was the passenger of the Harley, was pronounced deceased on the scene. The 27-year-old male driver of the Harley was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries. Both were wearing helmets.

Fields suffered no injuries from the crash. He was placed into custody and transported to the El Paso County Jail for DUI and additional pending charges.

The Colorado State Patrol is the lead investigating agency for this crash. The El Paso County Coroner will release any information regarding the deceased.

Arrests and charges are merely accusations until and unless a suspect is convicted of a crime. All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
