La Junta Senior Golf League - results for August 11, 2026

Forty-five members of the La Junta Senior Golf League met at the La Junta Golf Course on Tuesday, August 11, for a nine-hole round of golf. There was a twist to the game: three holes had restrictions about the golf club to be used. On hole #3 each golfer could only use their driver from tee box to putting out; hole #7 only a 3 wood or hybrid was used; and hole #9 an iron was used. The big news is Mark Johnston made the challenge chip on hole #1. There were also winners for the challenge putt on hole #5: Sudi Stokes, Bob Malden, Rod Soden, Dennis Golding, Elaine McIntyre, Claudia Conley, and Norm Finkner.

Skins were recorded for the club-restricted holes and only hole #9 had a skin.  The team of Mackie O'Neal, Dianna Milenski, Vince Tatum, Bob May, and Bob Malden have the bragging rights for that accomplishment.

Several golfers have birthdays this week and CaSandra Thomas brought cupcakes to celebrate. Thanks to the LJ Grill for letting us use the back room to escape the heat to eat cupcakes.

Next week, August 18, the La Junta Senior Golf League will meet again and play a nine-hole scramble with special putting challenges on each hole. Registration will be open from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m., with teams being picked at 8:45 a.m. No players can be added after this time. Play is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:00 a.m. Please call 719-469-0691 if you anticipate being late for registration but will be able to tee off on time.
