Armed and Dangerous Homicide Suspect Sought Near US Highway 50 in Lamar Area

Law Enforcement Search Underway for Armed and Dangerous Homicide Suspect in Lamar Area

LAMAR, Colo. — A significant law enforcement response is underway as multiple agencies search for a wanted man in connection with a homicide.

Authorities are searching in the area of U.S. Highway 50 between County Road 5 and County Road 7, as well as the North Loves area. Community members in and around these locations are urged to lock all doors, secure their vehicles and use caution while law enforcement conducts the search.

Gateway Park has temporarily been closed to the public while law enforcement conducts their search.

The wanted subject is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He was last reported wearing a black sweatshirt with the word “castle” on the sleeve, black and purple pants, and black shoes.

Authorities advise that the subject should be considered armed and dangerous.

DO NOT APPROACH THE SUBJECT. Anyone who sees a person matching the description should move to a safe location and call 911 immediately. Members of the public should not attempt to contact, confront or apprehend the individual.

The Lamar Police Department said it is assisting several agencies, including the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in the search. According to the department, the wanted subject fled from law enforcement during a multi-jurisdictional pursuit.

At this time, the Lamar Police Department is providing personnel to assist other agencies with efforts to apprehend the subject.

Residents should avoid interfering with law enforcement activity and remain alert for additional official notifications.
