Early Morning Crash on I-70

The roadway is reopened

(JEFFERSON COUNTY, COLO) - On August 17, 2026, at approximately 1:09 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a crash on westbound I-70 at milepost 257 (near Genesee).

The crash involved a Honda Civic and a semi hauling a trailer. The driver of the Honda Civic, a 23-year-old female, was transported to a local area hospital. The extent of injury is unknown at this time. The driver of the semi had no reports of injury.

The two right lanes were closed for approximately 5 and a half hours. The roadway reopened at 5:25 a.m.

The Colorado State Patrol is the lead investigating agency. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
