**Update** Fatal Head-On Crash On I-70 Near Utah Border

(MESA COUNTY, CO) - This is an update for a head-on fatal crash that occurred on July 20, 2026. On I-70 at milepost 4.

The Mesa County Coroner ruled the manner of death for the driver of the Subaru Outback, a 32-year-old female from Colorado Springs, as an intentional act. The toxicology report indicates that the 32-year-old female driver had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.235.

The driver of the Ford F150, a 40-year-old male from Thornton, Colorado, sustained serious injuries. The passengers, a 32-year-old female, a 24-year-old female, and three juveniles, also sustained serious injuries.
