Pueblo Police Arrest Man After Vehicle Allegedly Rams Patrol Car, Parked Vehicle During Traffic Stop

ATTEMPTED VEHICULAR ASSAULT

On August 21, 2026, at approximately 8:35 p.m. officers were working proactive Directed Investigations and Community Engagement (DICE) enforcement in the 800 block of E. 4th St.
 
Officers observed a traffic violation and the vehicle pull into a parking lot in the 800 block of E. 4th Street. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and as officers exited the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee by reversing at a high rate of speed, colliding with the front of the patrol vehicle. The suspect then accelerated forward, striking an occupied parked vehicle and the concrete pillars in front of the store. The driver continued his attempt to escape by again reversing at a high speed into the patrol vehicle, then accelerating forward a second time, hitting the victim’s vehicle and the store’s pillars for a second time.
 
The suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to run from officers, he was subsequently tased and taken into custody.

The suspect, 31-year-old Demarco Gallegos, complained of injuries and was taken to a local hospital for a medical clearance. Gallegos was then transported to the Pueblo County Detention Center on the following charges: Attempted Vehicular Assault, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Endangerment and Criminal Mischief.

All Parties Considered Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law.
