Rye Fire Crews Contain Maple Drive Structure Fire, Prevent Spread to Nearby Homes

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | MAPLE DRIVE STRUCTURE FIRE

At approximately 5:20 a.m. this morning, Rye Fire Protection District was dispatched to a reported structure fire spreading into nearby trees on Maple Drive.

Due to the initial report and potential for the fire to spread into surrounding vegetation and threaten nearby properties, a countywide mutual aid request was made for an Engine Strike Team and Tender Strike Team.

Chief 201 arrived on scene and found a fully involved mobile home with several nearby trees on fire.

An evacuation notification for the surrounding area was considered due to the potential for fire spread. However, Rye Fire crews quickly established containment, and upon the arrival of additional Rye apparatus, conditions had improved enough that evacuations were determined to be unnecessary.

Crews quickly established a protection line around the fire, protecting nearby homes and limiting the potential for the fire to spread into surrounding wildland fuels.

Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Division (ESD) Fire

With the assistance of our mutual aid partners and Matt Dennison, who provided an excavator, the fire was fully extinguished and overhaul operations were completed by approximately 9:00 a.m.

The fire was successfully contained to the single property, with no extension to neighboring properties.

Rye Fire Protection District would like to thank all responding agencies, dispatchers, and community partners for their rapid response and assistance. Strong mutual aid and coordinated operations played an important role in preventing this incident from becoming a larger structure and wildland fire.
