Pedestrian Killed in Crash With FedEx Truck on Southbound I-25 Near Mead

Fatal Crash on I-25

(WELD COUNTY, COLO) - On September 26, 2026, at approximately 4:53 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a crash involving a FedEx truck and a pedestrian on southbound I-25 near milepost 241 (between Highway 66 and Highway 119) near Mead, CO.

Preliminary reports indicate that a male pedestrian was traveling northbound in the center of the southbound right lane. A FedEx truck was traveling southbound in the right lane. The FedEx truck struck the pedestrian.

The male pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene. The identity of the pedestrian will be released by the Weld County Coroner once next of kin has been notified.

The 35-year-old driver of the FedEx truck had no reported injuries. The driver of the FedEx truck is not expected to face charges.

Southbound I-25 is closed at milepost 241. Choose alternate routes. The roadway is expected to open at approximately 10:15 a.m. Check COtrip.org for updates on traffic delays and road closures.

The Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit is the lead agency investigating the crash, with no cause determined at this time.
