La Junta Senior Golf - results for October 13, 2026

The last Senior League Golf match for the 2026 season was played on October 13 with 44 golfers participating.  There was a different challenge on each hole. For example, some holes had the golfers teeing off from different locations than normal, some holes had the golfers using specific clubs or not using specific clubs, and one hole gave the youngest and the oldest golfer on the team a chance to throw the ball further up the fairway. Skins were offered on holes 3, 4, 5 and 8, but there were no teams that were able to beat everyone else and win the skin. The last challenge chip of the year was on hole #6, but no one was able to make the chip.

A “10th hole” was set up on the practice green: golfers could only use a putter for this game and the tall grass made it difficult. But our seniors were determined.  The team of Matt Perea, Keith Waggoner, Connie Buchner, and Brad Swartz won that hole with a score of 2.

The round ended with cupcakes donated by CaSandra Thomas.  Thank you so much CaSandra!  Thanks also to the LJ Grill for allowing us use the back room to enjoy our cupcakes out of the wind.

Jay, Cathy, and Mike thank all the seniors that participated this year, and appreciate the card and gift certificates to local restaurants.  Jay will be emailing end-of-the-year stats when they are compiled.

One last thing, Bev Tucker, lost a favorite ball marker today which says, “talk birdie to me.” If found, please let Bev know, or send Jay an email and he will have her contact you.

Jay will be out at the golf course next Tuesday, October 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. to pay out the winnings.   If you are unable to come at that time, notify Jay to make other arrangements, otherwise, he will hold onto winnings until next year.
