On October 31, 2026, at approximately 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries on South Academy Boulevard near the eastern entrance to Pikes Peak State College.

Upon arrival, emergency medical personnel determined that the driver of a 2007 Cadillac was deceased at the scene. Due to the nature of the crash, Fountain Police Department’s Major Crash Unit responded and assumed the investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicates both vehicles were traveling eastbound on South Academy Boulevard. The Cadillac was stopped at a traffic signal when it was struck from behind by a 2020 Ford F-150. Both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lanes following the collision.

Investigators believe driver distraction may have been a primary contributing factor in the crash. Speed and alcohol impairment are also being examined as potential factors; however, neither has been confirmed at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released when appropriate.
